Friday morning we took a tour of the St. George Tabernacle. It's a beautiful building with a wonderful history. Doug was in charge of keeping Jason from tumbling over the edge of the balcony. Or did he volunteer to keep Jason away from the edge because he's not fond of heights?
We learned from the tour guide that every Prophet, except Joseph Smith, has spoken from the pulpit of the Tabernacle.
After our tour of the Tabernacle, we headed over to the St. George Temple. One of the things that really stood out to me about the temple is how beautifully white it is.
It was such a gorgeous day. All the flowers were blooming and Kaitlyn wanted to smell all the different types of flowers.
She said these particular flowers smelled like brown sugar.
So Jason could take a nap in the car, we drove a little north of St. George to Silver Reef. It's an old mining/ghost town. The funny thing is that right next to the rubble of the old town, people are building million dollar homes. This is the old Wells Fargo building that's been restored and turned into a museum and art gallery.
Here's some of the ruins of the town. We walked around for a little bit and saw more evidence of former buildings.
We were also able to do some geocaching in the area as well. Here's a picture of Doug looking for a cache in this old piece of machinery. After walking around in the desert, the kids needed a place to play. So we took the kids to a park downtown so they could get some energy out.
We had originally planned on going home the next day, Friday. We were having so much fun, we decided to extend our vacation one day. Before we left my mom was talking to me about how we should go to Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. She was describing it while we were driving in my car with the kids in the back. Kaitlyn overhead us talking and got excited about going to the sand dunes. She really wanted to see the pink sand. She even started singing a song about going to the sand dunes. Everyday since then Kaitlyn would mention the sand dunes. We thought it might be a cool thing to do. So that's why on Friday we checked out of our hotel in St. George and headed to Kanab. Pictures of our trip to the dunes are to come.

This looks like such a fun trip. I love all the pictures. I can't wait to see the dunes! You're right, that temple is super white and very beautiful!
