Our New Hobby

At a family reunion, my Aunt got us hooked on geocaching. Now it's one of our most favorite things we do as a family. For those who don't know what it is, it's basically a treasure hunt, as Kaitlyn calls it. You get GPS coordinates from a Web site, to places all over the world, but we stick mostly to Utah County. At each point a cache (an ammo box, plastic containers, etc.) is hidden with small goodies inside. Mostly it's little stuff for kids. Doug and I love it to find what's hidden and sign a log of who's been there, Kaitlyn loves it to get to the treasure. Here's some pictures of our hunt tonight. We hiked along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. It was a beautiful evening and had a great time finding 2 caches.
It was such a perfect night, with great views of the valley.
Hunting in the bushes, trying to find a cache. Finally found it down a steep hill.
Kaitlyn waiting for me to hike back up the hill.
Doug and Kaitlyn found the 2nd cache at the top of a different hill, while I waited at the base with Jason in his backpack. See the spectacular view!!! So great!

We didn't get any pictures of Doug or Jason, since Doug took the pictures with his cell phone. So here's video proof. I'm in the bushes getting the cache while the rest of the family looks on. That annoying squeaking sound in the background isn't a dying crow, it's Jason talking to us.
