Doug's Adventure

We had noticed for a little while that the clutch was going out on our 4-Runner. We had considered having it repaired locally, but decided that we could save a lot of money by driving it up to Idaho and having our brother-in-law, Scott fix it. Doug got all the parts needed to fix the clutch and headed up to Idaho on a Friday, Jan. 7th right after work. Things were going really well until he reached the Malad Pass. The poor clutch just couldn't handle it and it completely gave out at the bottom of the pass near Arimo, ID. Ever hear of it? Probably not since it consists of a gas station and some farms and houses. We considered getting a tow truck, but Scott was willing to get a truck and drive 2 hours to rescue Doug from the side of the road. In total Doug was stuck on the side of the road for almost 4 hours. I felt really bad for him, but was grateful that the kids and I weren't there.
Here he is, surprisingly happy for a guy stranded on the side of the road. He's probably happy cuz he had plenty of quiet time to contemplate the universe and sip Diet Coke.
Scott showed up and the guys got the 4-Runner up on the truck. They finally got it back to Victor early in the morning and after getting some shut eye went to work on replacing the clutch.
Doug was able to help Scott with the clutch, but Scott did most of the work. We're sooooo grateful that Scott was able to get Doug and replace the clutch. We really appreciate all his hard work and willingness to help us out!
